Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) is a contagious animal disease. Researchers believe the H5N1 virus can infect all bird species, but domesticated poultry are particularly vulnerable. Outbreaks have been attributed to contact between domestic birds and wild waterfowl via shared water sources, as well as to illegal trade in sick poultry and chicken feed by industrial farms.

Over the last twelve months, the disease has gone global, spreading rapidly beyond its East Asian stronghold to countries in South Asia, Europe, Middle East, and Africa (see Figure 1). 55 countries reported H5N1 outbreaks, most of them since January 2006. The impact is severe – an estimated 220 million bird deaths and significant damage to rural livelihoods, especially in the poorest areas.

The term mental depression brings fear to those who hear it. Mental plus illness leads some people to think “crazy”. This is of course untrue. The general term depression is better used to describe a temporary depressed or sad mood. By contrast, major depression is a serious and often disabling condition that can significantly affect a person’s work, family and school life, sleeping and eating habits, and general health. In Western countries, around 3.4% of people with major depression eventually commit suicide, and up to 60% of all people who commit suicide have depression or another mood disorder. Depressed individuals have a shorter life expectancy than those without depression, being more susceptible to medical conditions such as heart disease. However, depression may be overdiagnosed, and current diagnostic trends arguably have the effect of medicalizing sadness.

Depression is a loaded word in our culture. Many associate it, however wrongly, with a sign of weakness and excessive emotion. This is especially true with men. Depressed men are less likely than women to acknowledge feelings of self-loathing and hopelessness. How is depression expressed in men? Frequently, it comes out in more “socially acceptable” forms. Anger, aggression, reckless behavior and violence, along with substance abuse, can be signs of an underlying depression. You might hear complaints about fatigue, irritability, sleep problems, and loss of interest or sudden excessive interest in work and hobbies. Even though depression rates for women are twice as high as those in men, men are a higher suicide risk, especially older men.

Depression is a major risk factor for suicide. The deep despair and hopelessness that goes along with depression can make suicide feel like the only way to make the pain go away. Suicidal individuals often give warning signs or signals of their intentions. The best way to prevent suicide is to know and watch for these warning signs and to get involved if you spot them. If you believe that a friend or family member is suicidal, you can play a role in suicide prevention by pointing out the alternatives, showing that you care, and getting a professional involved.

There are a variety of symptoms that may indicate mental depression. Sufferers avoid contact with others. They may not find any enjoyment in activities that once comforted them. Sleeplessness and insomnia are common. People may begin to eat more than usual or less than usual. Dealing with others becomes a chore. Feelings of hopelessness may arise, and despair results. Even physical health will begin to deteriorate. They can be suffering from mental depression and not even realize it. Sometimes we have to realize it for them.

Depression is caused by a variety of possibilities. Stress can be a key. Many things cause stress. Stress comes from relationships and even the struggle to make ends meet. There is also stress from losing someone you love. It is also believed that mental depression is passed on through the genes. Many things cause depression. But there are many treatments too. Depressed children may not have the classic symptoms of adult depression. Watch especially for changes in school performance, sleep, and behavior. For others, a single factor may be triggering the illness. Depression often is related to the following.

Acute Asthmatic Bronchitis

Acute bronchitis is commonly caused by viruses infecting the lining of the bronchial tree. The virus can be the same viruses that cause colds. In rare cases, acute bronchitis can be caused by an infection of fungus in the bronchial tree. Bacterial infection is also one of the main causes of acute bronchitis.

Treatment for acute bronchitis can be rather easy to do. If the bronchitis is caused by a virus, it will usually go away after a few days and signs and symptoms of bronchitis will subside. It is only required that you should get plenty of rest until the fever subsides and drink a lot of non-caffeinated and non-alcoholic drink, such as water and juices. It is recommended that you should drink at least 3 to 4 liters a day in order for you to recover faster.

However, if the bronchitis is caused by bacteria, the treatment will include taking antibiotics. It is also recommended that you should increase the humidity in the environment by using room humidifiers or by simply putting wet towels and blankets around the house.

In order to help the bronchial tree recover and heal faster and prevent another attack of bronchitis, it is recommended that you should stay away from polluted areas and if you are a smoker, you should cut down or quit smoking if possible or at least by not smoking inside the house.

The duration of acute bronchitis is usually 10 to 12 days after the first signs and symptoms appear. It will be accompanied by cold or flu or in some cases it can come unaccompanied by other conditions. You have to remember that acute bronchitis is contagious. It is usually transmitted through coughing where the virus or bacteria will be released in the air causing someone who breathes in the virus or bacteria to get infected. It is important that whenever you need to cough, you should cover your mouth with a damp cloth to prevent most of the virus or bacteria particles from getting airborne.

For some people, after the bronchitis has been treated, they will still continue coughing. However, if the coughing lasts longer than a month, it is recommended that you should consult your physician immediately as some other condition aside from the bronchitis may be causing you to cough.

There are ways to prevent bronchitis. To do this, all you need to do is wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, drink lots of fluid, and get lots of rest. You have to remember that bronchitis is caused by viruses or bacteria that can be transferred from an infected area to your hands and from your hands to your lungs.

Always remember that once you see the signs and symptoms associated with bronchitis, you should consult your doctor immediately in order to make a quick diagnosis of your condition and let you treat it at its early stages.
